Precautions Before Taking Fosinopril

Dosage and Instructions for Use of Fosinopril
The following are general doses of fosinopril based on the patient's condition and age:
Condition:Heart failure
- Mature: 10 mg, 1 time a day. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg, once daily. For patients at risk for hypotension, the dose may be initiated at 5 mg once daily.
Condition: Hypertension
- Mature: 10 mg, 1 time a day. The first dose is given before bedtime to avoid a drastic drop in blood pressure. The maintenance dose is 10–40 mg, once daily.
- Children weighing >50 kg: 5–10 mg, once daily.
How to Take Fosinopril Correctly
Follow the doctor's advice and read the information listed on the medicine package before taking fosinopril. Do not reduce or increase the dose without consulting your doctor first.
Fosinopril should be taken on an empty stomach or 1 hour before a meal. You can take it with food if you feel stomach pain when taking the medicine on an empty stomach.

- Decreased blood levels of fosinopril when used with antacids
- Increased risk of kidney damage if used with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Increased risk of nitritoid reactions such as facial flushing, nausea, vomiting, and low blood pressure if used with gold-based drugs, such as sodium aurothiomalate
Side Effects and Dangers of Fosinopril

- Dizziness or headache
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea or stomach ache
