Shrink Breasts Through Surgery

Having large breasts is a dream for many women. However, some women actually look for ways to reduce their breasts because they feel less confident or to look thinner.

Apart from appearance reasons, there are also women who intend to reduce their breasts due to health reasons, such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, experiencing skin problems under the breasts, skin irritation, or difficulty doing some activities.

Breast reduction with surgery

Breast surgery can be done as a way to shrink the breasts. However, there are a few things you should know about this procedure.

Before the surgery is performed by a plastic surgeon, there are several breast examinations that need to be done, one of which is a mammography. After that, the doctor will tell how much tissue or breast lining to be removed.

Before deciding to have surgery, you should consult with your doctor, especially regarding the following:

  • The time it takes to heal.
  • Hospital stay.
  • Medical history, especially those related to breast health.
  • Tell your doctor if you smoke or drink alcohol.
  • Also inform your doctor if there are certain medications or supplements that you are taking.
  • Ask your doctor what needs to be done before and after surgery.

Operation and Healing Process

Before surgery as a way to shrink the breast, doctors usually ask you to stop using drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen. In addition, the doctor will ask you what type of anesthesia you choose, it can be partial or general anesthesia. The surgical procedure will be adjusted to the initial breast size and the size you want to achieve. The surgery generally takes about 2 to 5 hours.

In this operation, the doctor will cut the black part around the nipple called the areola. The doctor will make an incision under the breast, then remove the skin and fat layer inside the breast until it reaches the desired size. At the end of the operation, if the nipple is not in the right position, the doctor will reposition it.

After the surgery, you will use a gauze bandage and a drainage tube to drain the fluid from the swelling in the breast. The use of a bra is not recommended for a week. If your condition has started to improve and has been allowed to use a bra by a doctor, choose a special bra with soft and smooth materials.

Healing in breast surgery takes a long time and you may feel pain in your breasts. To overcome this, the doctor will give pain relievers. During the healing period, you will need to rest completely for one week, and limit strenuous activities to one month.
