Recognize 6 Signs of Body Excess Sugar

Signs of excess sugar in the blood need to be recognized so that it can be treated immediately. Because if allowed to drag on, this condition can cause various disorders in the body, even fatal ones.

Ideally, a normal fasting blood sugar level should be between 72-99 mg/dL. Meanwhile, normal blood sugar levels after eating do not exceed 140 mg/dL. However, in conditions of diabetes and prediabetes, blood sugar levels can increase rapidly. This increase in sugar levels can cause several complaints and symptoms.

Various Signs of Excess Sugar

Here are some signs of excess sugar that you need to watch out for:

1. Mouth feels dry

One of the most common signs of excess sugar is a dry mouth. This is usually caused by a disruption in the production of saliva by the salivary glands. Dry mouth will increase the risk of fungal and bacterial infections in the mouth.

2. Often feel thirsty and urinate (BAK)

Be aware of the thirst that often appears even though you have drunk a lot. The reason, this condition can be a sign of excess sugar.

The buildup of sugar in the blood will make the kidneys work harder to filter and get rid of it, so that the BAK becomes more frequent and the fluid that comes out through the urine also becomes more. The loss of a lot of fluid through urine is what causes thirst.

3. Quickly feel tired

Sugar is the main source of energy for the body. However, excessive amounts without proper processing, for example due to impaired insulin function or insufficient amounts of insulin, will make the energy unusable by the body. As a result, the body will be weak and tired.

4. Always feel hungry

The next sign of excess sugar is always feeling hungry. In diabetes, even though the sufferer has eaten a lot, the sugar that is absorbed from food cannot enter the cells, so the body's cells do not get enough energy. This will make the body continue to feel hungry and increase appetite.

5. Blurred vision

When blood sugar levels increase, one part of the body that is directly affected is the eyes. This is because high blood sugar levels cause the lens of the eye to swell, thereby impairing the eye's ability to see.

6. Experiencing changes in skin color

Elevated blood sugar levels can also cause skin discoloration in the folds of the body, such as the neck or knuckles.

Basically, increased blood sugar levels are closely related to diet, lifestyle, and the amount and ability of insulin. Consuming excess food, not paying attention to calorie needs, and rarely exercising are factors that can cause blood sugar levels to rise drastically.

If you experience the signs of excess sugar described above, you should immediately consult a doctor to be sure. And if you have diabetes or prediabetes, do regular checkups with your doctor to keep your blood sugar levels under control.
