Easy Eye Treatment

There are several eye care steps you can take to maintain eye function and health, including:

1. Avoid staring at electronic screens for too long

Staring at a computer or cell phone screen for too long can cause various problems, such as tired eyes, blurred vision, dry eyes, headaches, neck and back pain, and shoulder pain.

If you work in front of a computer screen all day, don't forget to give your eyes a break every 20 minutes by looking away for 20 seconds.

2. Wearing sunglasses when doing outdoor activities

Eyes can be damaged quickly if too often exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. Exposure to UV rays for too long can also increase the risk of certain eye diseases, such as cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal damage, and eye cancer.

Therefore, wear sunglasses that can block UVA and UVB rays as eye protection when you are doing outdoor activities.

3. Use eye protection

Don't forget to always wear eye protection, especially if you often work in dusty environments or when doing home repairs. Eye protection is also important when you do certain sports, such as cycling. This step is important to do to prevent injury to the eye.

4. Eat nutritious food

Healthy and well-groomed eyes require a complete intake of nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. In addition to caring for the eyes, intake of these nutrients is also important to prevent age-related eye disorders, such as cataracts and macular degeneration.

You can get these vitamins and minerals by eating green vegetables, fruits, fish, eggs, and nuts.

5. Maintain ideal body weight

Not only eating nutritious food, maintaining an ideal body weight is also important to take care of eye health. This is because being overweight or obese can increase the risk of developing diabetes.

People with diabetes are at high risk of developing eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Therefore, keep your ideal weight by exercising regularly and following a healthy diet.

6. Stop smoking

Smoking can reduce eye health and can increase the risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and eye nerve damage that can lead to blindness later in life. In addition, active smokers are also at high risk for dry eyes and retinal damage.

7. Clean the eye area with baby shampoo

Cleaning the eyes regularly is one way to maintain eye health. In people with inflammation of the eyelids or blepharitis, the eyes can be cleaned with a cloth dipped in warm water to remove eye debris.

In addition, you can also use baby shampoo mixed into water to clean the eyelids and eyelashes at least every 2 days. However, choose a baby shampoo that does not contain fragrance, because the fragrance in baby shampoo can cause eye irritation.

8. Do regular eye exams

An eye examination is one of the eye care steps that need to be carried out regularly. An eye examination is carried out to assess vision function, check eye condition, and detect eye disorders early on. Thus, any eye problems can be treated as quickly as possible.

For children and adults, eye examinations should be done once every 1-2 years. However, the elderly over 65 years should undergo an eye examination at least once a year.

Not only by taking care of the eyes, you also have to maintain eye health by not taking lightly various problems and disorders of the eye. Eye problems that are not treated early can lead to vision loss.

Therefore, immediately consult an eye doctor if you have complaints related to eye health.
