  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy.
  • See your doctor right away if you have an allergic reaction or overdose after using this medicine.

Dosage and Instructions for Use of Cefpodoxime

The dose of cefpodoxime varies in each patient. The doctor will give the dose and determine the length of treatment according to the patient's condition. The following is a breakdown of cefpodoxime doses based on the conditions being treated:

Condition: bronchitis or respiratory tract infections

  • Mature: 100–200 mg, every 12 hours for 10 days
  • Children aged 2 months–12 years: 4 mg/kg, every 12 hours. The maximum dose in children is 200 mg, per day

Condition:acute otitis media

  • Children aged 2 months–12 years: 4-5 mg/kg, every 12 hours for 5 days
  • Maximum dose: 200 mg per day

Condition: gonorrhea

  • Mature: 200 mg single dose

Condition: skin infection

  • Mature: 200–400 mg, every 12 hours for 7–14 days
  • Children aged 2 months–12 years: 4 mg/kg, every 12 hours. The maximum dose in children is 200 mg, per day

Condition: urinary tract infection

  • Mature: 100 mg, every 12 hours for 7 days
  • Children aged 2 months–12 years: 4 mg/kg, every 12 hours

How to Take Cefpodoxime Correctly

Follow your doctor's advice and read the instructions on the medicine package before using cefpodoxime. Do not increase or decrease the dose without consulting your doctor first.

Cefpodoxime is available in tablet and liquid form as a suspension. Cefpodoxime tablets should be taken after meals. While cefpodoxime liquid suspension can be taken before or after meals.

If you are taking cefpodoxime liquid suspension, be sure to shake it before taking it. Use the measuring spoon provided in the package for a more precise dose.

Do not stop taking cefpodoxime suddenly, without consulting your doctor first. Use this drug until it runs out even though the symptoms you feel have improved.
