The conditions experienced by every pregnant woman can indeed be different. However, pregnant women need to be careful, there are some conditions that are dangerous and need a doctor's examination. Come on, know what these conditions are!
In addition to knowing the signs of a healthy and normal pregnancy, it is also important to recognize the signs of a dangerous pregnancy. That way, pregnant women can be calmer because they already know which complaints need to be checked by a doctor and which ones don't.
Pregnancy Conditions to Watch Out for
The following are pregnancy conditions that pregnant women need to see a doctor if they experience them:
1. Excessive nausea and vomiting
Nausea and vomiting are normal signs of pregnancy. However, if nausea and vomiting are excessive to the point of not being able to drink for more than 8 hours or eating for more than 24 hours, pregnant women should immediately consult a doctor, especially if these complaints are accompanied by dry mouth, headache, and fever.
If left longer, this condition can cause pregnant women to become dehydrated and lack nutrition. This is certainly not good for the health of pregnant women and babies in the womb.
2. Leaking water
If you feel you are constantly passing white, clear, or yellow discharge with mucus and odorless from the vagina, it could be a sign of leaking amniotic fluid.
This condition is difficult to distinguish from the seepage of urine or vaginal fluid which also often occurs in pregnant women. Therefore, it is necessary to be examined by a doctor, because leaking membranes can increase the risk of birth defects, premature birth, or even miscarriage.
3. Symptoms of preeclampsia
If pregnant women experience swelling in the face or hands and are accompanied by stomach pain, severe headaches, and visual disturbances, pregnant women need to be alert because it could be a symptom of preeclampsia.
This serious condition generally occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy and can be life threatening for pregnant women and fetuses if not treated immediately.
4. Decreased movement of the baby in the womb
If pregnant women feel the movement of the baby in the womb has stopped or is significantly reduced than usual, immediately consult a doctor. There could be something wrong and it should be treated as soon as possible.
5. Bleeding or blood spots
Spots of blood during pregnancy are generally not something that is dangerous. However, pregnant women should be wary if they experience spotting that continues to come out the next day or if the bleeding becomes so heavy that it requires more than one pad in 1 hour and is accompanied by pain, fever or chills.
This condition can signal a serious disorder in pregnancy, including signs of miscarriage, or the separation of the placenta (placental abruption) from the uterine wall. Therefore, it is important to immediately consult a doctor.
6. Premature contractions
Entering the third trimester, pregnant women will begin to feel light contractions or often known as false contractions as a sign that the body is getting ready for labor.
However, if the contractions are felt before 37 weeks, occur every 10 minutes, and are getting stronger over time, pregnant women are advised to immediately go to a gynecologist or hospital. Contractions like this could be a sign of preterm labor.
In addition to the above conditions, there are other conditions that indicate that pregnant women need to be brought to the ER, such as shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, extreme fatigue, high fever, severe headache, vomiting blood, stomach pain or severe diarrhea for more than a day.
If pregnant women experience these conditions, immediately consult a gynecologist. The sooner it is treated, the better the treatment can be and the less likely something bad will happen.
